On Thursday 19th April, Louise and John from Vision Skills North east visited our school to deliver a presentation to the children on what it is like to be blind or have a sight problem. They showed the children some of the aids and equipment that a blind or visually impaired person would use in their daily lives.Their presentations were educational and raised awareness ... but were are also full of fun.
The children asked John and Louise lots of questions;
"How can someone with a sight problem find out what colour something is?"
"Can you read a book?"
"How do you cook at home?"
John answered all of these questions and showed the children lots of amazing gadgets that help him during his day to day life.
This session was part of our STEM week with the theme of Message Makers. During the week, the pupils investigated different ways to send messages, including Braille.
